Bladder Stone Removal

Overview

Bladder stone removal is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure. A cystoscope is used for this procedure. It is inserted thru the urethra to locate the kidney stone. Specialized instruments will help break down the stone and the urologist will use forceps or other specialized instruments to remove the stone.

How to prepare for the procedure

Bladder stone removal is performed under anesthesia. When preparing to have a procedure performed under anesthesia you can expect to start fasting the night prior to your procedure.  Please consult with your surgeon to discuss the pre-operative testing which may include; blood work, chest x-ray, EKG, discontinuation of medications, and clearance for other medical reasons. The procedure will be done either at  the office or outpatient surgery center.
